From our compassionate veterinarians, Drs. William Kimble, Greg Howell, and Johnna McRee, to our skilled certified technicians and technician assistants, caretakers, and receptionists, each member brings a unique blend of passion and expertise to ensure the well-being of your pets.

Our Doctors

Dr. William Kimble

DVM

Doctor Kimble was born in Brookhaven, Mississippi and reared on a family farm in Franklin County. He completed his high school education at Franklin County High School, in Meadville, MS.  After completing his pre-veterinary education at Copiah-Lincoln Community College, he received his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Mississippi State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1987. Dr. Kimble returned to Brookhaven and joined Dr. M. L. Hayles and his son Dr. Ronald Hayles in the practice of veterinary medicine at the Animal Medical Center.

Dr. Kimble and his wife Sonya are members of Central Baptist Church in Brookhaven; and, they have two children: Kristin (Rhine) Chesteen and William Ryan (Amy)Kimble. They have two grandchildren Olivia and Maddox Chesteen.

Dr Kimble is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, Mississippi Veterinary Medical Association, and Servitium Club of Brookhaven. He is an Enhanced Clinical Practice student from Mississippi State University College of Veterinary Medicine. Since 2006, he has served as a Commissioner for the Lincoln Civic Center in Brookhaven which continues to be part of Dr. Kimble’s ongoing commitment to the community.

Dr. Kimble’s areas of special interest include canine and equine reproduction, small animal medicine, and small animal orthopedic surgery. He enjoys gardening, Mississippi State University sports, and traveling with his family.

Dr. Gregory A. Howell

DVM

Dr. Gregory A. Howell spent his formative years in the Mississippi Delta. He later moved to the Mississippi Gulf Coast and graduated from Pascagoula High School. He attended Delta State University before receiving his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Mississippi State University in 1991. After graduation he began his professional career at Animal Medical Center, and in 1993, he became co-owner. Governor Haley Barbour appointed Dr. Howell to the Mississippi Board of Animal Health where he has served as chairman and is a current member.

He was awarded Mississippi’s Young Veterinarian of the Year in 2000 and was featured on Mississippi Farm Week. Dr. Howell is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association. He is also a member of the Mississippi Veterinary Medical Association, serving on the board as Representative of the Southern District and Vice President of the association. Dr. Howell is passionate about helping the next generation of veterinarians and is involved with a mentoring program for current veterinary students. He also instructs veterinary students through the Enhanced Clinical Practicum program for Mississippi State University College of Veterinary Medicine. In addition, Dr. Howell has been active in his community.

He is a member and past president of Brookhaven Kiwanis Club and Methodist Men and has served as a board member for the Brookhaven-Lincoln County Chamber of Commerce and the Lincoln County Livestock Association. Dr. Howell enjoys helping others and has been active in his local church, Habitat for Humanity, and the Servitium Club. He has served on and led teams in foreign missions to Honduras, Nicaragua, Guatemala, and Ecuador. He enjoys spending time outdoors hunting, fishing, and working on his farm. Dr. Howell and his wife Amye are proud of their two children Mr. Luke Howell and Dr. Katie Palmer, and their son-in-law Dr Trace Palmer. However, they are most proud of their grandson, Clark!

Dr. Johnna McRee

DVM

Dr. Johnna McRee is originally from Mize, MS. She attended Mississippi State University for undergrad and veterinary school. Dr. McRee is a member of the Mississippi Veterinary Medical Association and the American Veterinary Medical Association. Dr. McRee resides on a farm in Wesson, MS with her husband Jon.  They have three children, Vivian who attends Mississippi College, Lucas who attends Copiah Lincoln Attendance Center, and Trevor who attends Wesson Attendance Center.  Even though she is an avid outdoorswoman, Dr. McRee enjoys baking, sewing, and reading. She is a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Brookhaven, MS, and is active in the music ministry as an organist.

Dr. Lauren Zell

DVM

Dr. Lauren Zell was born and raised in the Arkansas Delta, in the small row crop town of Wright, AR. Her passion for animals started young with all of the stray dogs she and her parents adopted. Dr. Zell earned her bachelor’s degree in Animal Sciences at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville. After graduating from the U of A, she moved to Mississippi to attend veterinary school at Mississippi State University College of Veterinary Medicine. During her third year of schooling, she externed at Animal Medical Center in Brookhaven and met the team she would come to join. Upon graduation in 2023, Dr. Zell was awarded the Poco and Clio Gentle Doctor Award by her fellow classmates.

Dr. Zell’s areas of special interest are small animal internal medicine, pocket pet health, small ruminant medicine, and senior animal care and quality of life. When Dr. Zell is not working, she enjoys spending time with her two dogs and four guinea pigs, going home to Arkansas to visit family, reading, and catching up friends. She is a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church.

Shellie Jordan

Practice Manager

Shellie Jordan, a Lincoln County native, graduated from Brookhaven High School in 1993. She received her EMT training in 1999 from Cophia-Lincoln Community College. Shellie developed an interest in book keeping while working at a local bank and later became employed by an accounting firm for 18 years. Shellie joined Animal Medical Center in January of 2022 as practice manager, where she oversees the day-to-day operations of the clinic. Shellie is a member of Gum Grove Baptist Church and has served as a volunteer fire fighter with the Hog Chain Volunteer Fire Department over the past 28 years. Shellie enjoys spending time with her family and friends, cooking, spending time at the river, riding ATV’s and hunting. She and her husband Randy Jordan have been married for 32 years. They have one son, Sawyer Jordan.
